  • On April 12th in 1979, the now cult-favourite car movie “Mad Max” was released.  For 20 years the movie was considered one of the most profitable films of all time thanks to its low production budget versus Box Office profit revenue.  We bet you also didn’t know that 14 cars were destroyed in the making of the first film in the series.

  • On April 13th in 1931, famed Formula One and Indy Car driver Daniel Sexton Gurney was born.  He would go on to be the first of 3 drivers to win races in Sports Cars, Formula One, Nascar, and Indy Car races.

  • On April 14th 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed the National Interregional Highway Committee to help promote and maintain an international system of national highways to improve interregional transportation.  This helped create the National System of Interstate Highways we use today!

  • On April 14th 2015, Grand Theft Auto V was released for PC/Windows gaming.

  • On April 14th 2017, Vin Disel’s hit car movie franchise installment The Fate of the Furious was released in cinemas.

  • April 14th is also the birthday of Jeff Andretti, Tony Raines, and Armani Williams.

  • On April 15th in 1938, Betty Jane France, founder of the NASCAR foundation, was born.

  • On April 16th 1958, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the Federal-Aid Highway Act which increased funding for the construction of Interstate Highways as part of an economic stimulus package.

  • On April 16th in 1969, the grindhouse exploitation flick “Hell’s Belles” was released.

  • On April 17th in 1965, Ford Motor Company premiered the very first Ford Mustang to the public!

  • On April 17th in 2003, Nissan unveiled the Nissan Pathfinder Armada to the public.
