Driven to End Childhood Cancer

Founded in 1998, Hyundai Hope On Wheels is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting pediatric cancer through research funding and public awareness. Supported by Hyundai Motor America, over 850 dealers, and customers across the nation, the organization donates a portion of every new vehicle sale to pediatric cancer research.

This remarkable initiative has grown into one of the largest nonprofit funders of pediatric cancer research in the country. By 2025, total donations will exceed $277 million, funding innovative research programs at children's hospitals and research institutions across America.

The Urgent Need for Research

Every 36 minutes, a child in the United States is diagnosed with cancer. While tremendous progress has been made, thanks in part to research investments from organizations like Hyundai Hope On Wheels, pediatric cancer remains the leading disease-related cause of death for children in the U.S.

The statistics are sobering: one in five children diagnosed with cancer will not survive. Despite this, less than 4% of federal cancer research funding goes to pediatric cancer. This gap in funding is precisely why programs like Hyundai Hope On Wheels are so critical.

Through sustained investment in research, Hyundai Hope On Wheels and its dealer network have helped raise the childhood cancer survival rate above 85%. But there is still much work to be done, particularly for high-risk forms of pediatric cancer where survival rates remain unacceptably low.
