Planting Roots in Queens Through Subaru Loves the Earth

At Koeppel Subaru, caring for our community goes well beyond the showroom floor. That commitment to making a positive local impact recently took root in a very literal way when our dealership hosted a Tree Giving Event in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation. The event was part of Subaru of America's annual Subaru Loves the Earth initiative, a program dedicated to environmental responsibility and sustainable practices.

This special event invited members of our Queens community to visit Koeppel Subaru and take home a regionally appropriate tree, completely free of charge. Each tree was selected to thrive in the local New York climate, giving families and individuals a chance to make a lasting environmental contribution right in their own neighborhoods.

A Nationwide Effort with Local Heart

The Tree Giving Event at Koeppel Subaru was part of a much larger national effort. Subaru of America partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to distribute 65,000 trees across the country through nearly 600 participating Subaru retailers. The goal was simple but powerful: empower communities to plant and grow greener neighborhoods, one tree at a time.

Each April, the Subaru Loves the Earth initiative highlights the automaker's deep commitment to environmental responsibility and community well-being. The tree distribution program is one of the most visible examples of that commitment in action, putting real resources directly into the hands of people who want to make a difference.

The importance of this work is clear. The United States loses approximately 36 million trees every year due to aging, disease, pest infestations, and extreme weather. That loss takes a real toll on air quality, wildlife habitat, and the overall health of our environment. By distributing regionally appropriate trees and providing proper planting guidance, Subaru and the Arbor Day Foundation are helping to reverse that trend one community at a time.

Why Trees Matter to Our Community

Trees do incredible things for urban environments like Queens and the broader New York City area. They clean the air we breathe, reduce heat in densely built neighborhoods, manage stormwater runoff, and provide habitat for birds and other wildlife. They also add beauty to our streets and increase property values.

At our event, every participant received planting guides, species specific care instructions, and helpful QR codes that linked to additional resources. These tools were designed to help ensure that every tree given away has the best possible chance to thrive for years to come.

#KoeppelKares in Action

Environmental stewardship is a natural extension of the #KoeppelKares philosophy. Throughout the year, Koeppel Subaru looks for meaningful ways to invest in the well-being of our community, whether that means supporting local schools, sponsoring youth sports teams, partnering with charitable organizations, or hosting events like the Tree Giving initiative.

We are proud to work alongside Subaru of America and the Arbor Day Foundation on initiatives that create lasting, positive change. The trees distributed at our event will grow alongside our community for decades, providing shade, beauty, and environmental benefits long into the future.
